IASP Position Statement on the Use of Cannabinoids to Treat Pain – IASP (iasp-pain.org)
The latest from the International Association for the Study of Pain
It states that the IASP cannot endorse the use of cannbinoids at this time.
A task force has reviewed the evidence to date and found that the depth of scientific research is insufficient to support the use of cannabinoids in chronic pain. They remain concerned about possible mental health issues including reported psychosis.
However, they acknowledge that some pain sufferers report benefit and that there is evidence for cannabinoids in other medical conditions. They state that they remain open to supporting its’ use in chronic pain adding the proviso that they can only do so based onĀ well conducted trials.
